Brazil-U.S. Judicial Initiative
Wednesday, May 11, 2011 to Friday, May 13, 2011
The Firm's New York City Partner Howard Vickery and Miami counsel Jon Mills have been invited to participate in the Brazil-U.S. Judicial Initiative in Washington, D.C. on May 11-13. The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, the Library of Congress and Georgetown University Law Center are jointly hosting the Initiative. Last held in 1998-1999, the Initiative will bring together Ministers from the Superior Tribunal de Justiça, Brazil's highest court, and a distinguished delegation of federal judges headed by Supreme Court Justices John Roberts, Stephen Breyer and Sonia Sotomayor, as well as legal scholars and practitioners from Brazil and the United States, to discuss issues of common concern to the judicial branches of both countries. Partner Stephen Zack, the President of the American Bar Association, was instrumental in the planning for the Initiative, but could not attend due to a scheduling conflict. The Initiative will feature panel discussions and is limited to some thirty-five participants.
