Firm Chairman David Boies To Receive Honorary Degree Today At New York University 2013 Commencement Ceremony

BSF chairman David Boies received an honorary Doctor of Law degree from New York University at the 2013 commencement ceremony, held in Yankee Stadium on May 22, 2013. Mr. Boies earned his LLM from NYU’s School of Law in 1967. Mr. Boies addressed the 14,000 graduates in attendance along with thousands of their friends and family.
Others who received honorary doctorates on May 22 include: Oliver Stone, Oscar-winning film director and alumnus of NYU's Tisch School of Arts; Omara Khan Masoudi, Director General of the National Museum of Afghanistan; and Claire Marie Fraser, a professor of medicine and director of University of Maryland's Institute for Genome Sciences. The NYU Presidential Medal was given to Edith Windsor, an NYU alumna and the plaintiff in the case brought against the Defense of Marriage Act, which was argued before the Supreme Court the day after BSF’s Proposition 8 case was argued in late March of this year.
