It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear partner Robert Silver. 

Mr. Silver  was a senior partner of Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP since the firm was founded and was a member of the firm's Executive Committee.  While at Boies, Schiller & Flexner, Mr. Silver has worked on complex litigation matters and corporate transactions. Mr. Silver worked on the United States v. Microsoft litigation and the Gore Presidential Campaign litigation. Representative clients include, Bloomberg L.P., UnitedHealth Group, Sir Harold Evans, Pacific Investment Management Company LLC, American Express, Maurice R. ("Hank") Greenberg, former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American International Group Inc., Pfizer, Inc., the C.V. Starr companies, Wachovia Corporation, Goldman Sachs, Altria, Philip Morris USA, the New York Yankees, and Echostar.  Mr. Silver was a senior member of the team working on the defense of Barclays in numerous lawsuits filed after the bank’s $453 million LIBOR settlement, including ten consolidated class actions, an action regarding Yen LIBOR and a securities fraud action, all in the Southern District of New York.  Mr. Silver has also provided strategic advice and consultation to a variety of companies regarding IP and IP/antitrust issues. Mr. Silver has worked on the representation of plaintiffs in antitrust class action litigation, including the Vitamins antitrust litigation and the Auction Houses antitrust litigation.

Mr. Silver was a lawyer with Cravath, Swaine & Moore from 1983 to 1988, where he worked on the IBM and Texaco-Pennzoil litigations. In the beginning of 1988, Mr. Silver returned to Yale Law School as a Faculty Fellow.
