James Grippando's main practce area is complex commercial and corporate litigation.

Before joining Boies, Schiller & Flexner, LLP, Mr. Grippando was a trial lawyer and a partner in the Miami office of Steel Hector & Davis, where he specialized in antitrust law and also served as head of recruiting. A member of the Florida bar since 1984, Mr. Grippando has handled important litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants. He was lead counsel in a seven-year class action battle against the largest privately held corporation in the world. The case received national attention, and the Wall Street Journal called it "[t]he catalyst for wholesale change in the $15-billion a year poultry industry." Mr. Grippando has also been a frequent volunteer in Florida's guardian ad litem program, where he helped provide legal representation to neglected children in family court proceedings. He was a faculty member with the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at Nova Southeast University. He was named by Florida Trend Magazine as one of Florida's emerging leaders.

Mr. Grippando is an avid writer. His numerous scholarly articles have appeared in law reviews at top law schools, and they are frequently cited with approval by the courts. He is also the author of fourteen nationally best-selling suspense novels, which are enjoyed worldwide in twenty-four languages. Leapholes, his first novel for young adults, was published by the American Bar Association and is used by middle schools across the country to teach children about law and lawyers.
