John LaSalle's main practice area is complex commercial litigation.

Since joining the firm in 2007, Mr. LaSalle has represented Starr International Company, headed by Maurice R. "Hank" Greenberg, in a federal lawsuit brought by American International Group seeking, among other things, billions of dollars of Starr's AIG stock and other assets.  Starr won summary judgment on most of AIG's claims in 2008 and won a unanimous jury verdict on AIG's remaining claims after a 16-day trial in June and July 2009.

Mr. LaSalle has represented a major credit card network in connection with antitrust claims arising from the network’s contractual provisions with merchants.  In the summer of 2014, Mr. LaSalle was part of a team that defended the network in a seven week bench trial against claims by the Department of Justice relating to those provisions.

Mr. LaSalle has represented the Golden Gate Yacht Club in connection with the yacht club's successful challenge in the 33rd America's Cup.

Mr. LaSalle has represented a large, multinational insurer in numerous litigations relating to secondary market claims resulting from non-recourse premium financing and transactions involving stranger-originated life insurance.

Mr. LaSalle also represented Wachovia in its litigation against Citigroup relating to the 2008 acquisition of Wachovia by Wells Fargo.

Mr. LaSalle graduated summa cum laude from Duke University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.  He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as a Notes Editor for the Virginia Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif.
