John LaSalle's main practice area is complex commercial litigation.
Since joining the firm in 2007, Mr. LaSalle has represented Starr International Company, headed by Maurice R. "Hank" Greenberg, in a federal lawsuit brought by American International Group seeking, among other things, billions of dollars of Starr's AIG stock and other assets. Starr won summary judgment on most of AIG's claims in 2008 and won a unanimous jury verdict on AIG's remaining claims after a 16-day trial in June and July 2009.
Mr. LaSalle has also represented the Golden Gate Yacht Club in connection with the yacht club's successful challenge in the 33rd America's Cup.
Mr. LaSalle has served as pro bono counsel to a New York State inmate in connection with the successful resolution of a Section 1983 action for deliberate indifference to the inmate's serious medical needs.
Mr. LaSalle graduated summa cum laude from Duke University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as a Notes Editor for the Virginia Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif.
