Mark J. Heise's main practice areas are complex commercial litigation, class action litigation and product liability litigation.

Before joining Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, Mr. Heise was the managing partner of Heise Markarian Foreman, P.A. Throughout his career, Mr. Heise has handled complex and multiparty litigation in Florida and in other jurisdictions. Some of the cases include a class action against AT&T Corp. that settled after the class was certified, Singer v. AT&T Corp., 185 F.R.D. 681 (S.D. Fla. 1998), and a successful effort at having a state taxing statute declared unconstitutional on behalf of persons who paid for parking in Miami. McGrath v. City of Miami, 789 So.2d 1168 (Fla. 3d DCA 2001) aff'd 824 So. 2d 143 (Fla. 2002).

In addition to these cases, Mr. Heise has successfully litigated a variety of complex matters, including multimillion dollar property insurance claims arising out of Hurricane Andrew, the defense and prosecution of legal and accounting malpractice claims, securities litigation on behalf of defrauded investors and other significant commercial matters. Some of these reported cases include Flint v. ABB, Inc., 229 F.Supp.2d 1338, (S.D. Fla. 2002), Kiefer v. Paging Network, Inc., 50 F.Supp.2d 681 (E.D. Mich. 1999); Southeastern Staffing Services, Inc. v. Florida Dept. of Ins., 728 So.2d 248 (Fla. 1st DCA 1998); Christiania Holding, Inc. v. Koalick, 695 So.2d 491 (Fla. 3d DCA 1997); Lightspeed of Miami, Inc. v. Jack Eckerd Corp., 614 So.2d 629 (Fla. 3d DCA 1993); and Atlantic Asphalt & Equipment Co., Inc. v. Mairena, 578 So.2d 292 (Fla. 3d DCA 1991).

Mr. Heise's recent and ongoing representation includes the defense of Philip Morris USA in a variety of actions, ranging from antitrust matters to product liability claims brought by smokers for the injuries allegedly caused by smoking cigarettes.

Mr. Heise has authored and lectured on a variety of topics, including Trial in Federal Court, Trying the Class Action Lawsuit in Florida, and Pornography, Radical Feminists and Federal Courts.

Mr. Heise also is actively involved various local charities, having served on the Board of Directors of Children's Foundation of Greater Miami and The Wellness Community.
