Mr. Gwynne received his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he was a member of the Editorial Staff of the Yale Law Journal. In 1991, he was awarded a B.S. with distinction from the United States Naval Academy. He received his M.A. in National Security Studies from Georgetown University in 1992.
Mr. Gwynne served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy. He was designated a Naval Aviator and flew H-60 “Seahawk” helicopters, while assigned to the aircraft carriers U.S.S. Enterprise and U.S.S. Eisenhower. As one of the first graduates of the Navy’s Helicopter Weapons and Tactics Instructor School, he taught other aviators graduate-level Combat Search and Rescue techniques.
