Philip Bowman's main practice areas include antitrust and complex commercial litigation.
At Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, Mr. Bowman is a member of the team representing American Express in an antitrust lawsuit against Visa, MasterCard and several of their member banks in which the firm recently obtained a historic settlement from Visa. Mr. Bowman is also currently representing a number of financial institutions and private equity firms in disputes arising out of the credit market crisis.
Before joining Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, Mr. Bowman was an associate at the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, where he was involved in litigating a number of significant matters, including three of the largest securities class actions in history, a patent infringement suit against a major technology company, and an investigation under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
At Yale Law School, Mr. Bowman was a teaching assistant to Professor Owen Fiss and a moot court semifinalist. He spent a semester in the Office of the Legal Advisor to the President of Eritrea, where he was involved in advising the government of Eritrea in connection with its border dispute with Ethiopia.
