Since joining the firm in 2007, Ms. Josephs has focused on complex commercial litigation. She represents a financial guaranty insurer with respect to claims arising from residential mortgage-backed securitizations and is part of a team that advises and represents a private equity firm in various litigations and arbitrations involving issues of executive compensation and fiduciary obligations. She has assisted the team representing a large investment bank in ongoing adversary proceedings in the Lehman bankruptcy and has also assisted the group representing investors defrauded by Madoff. Ms. Josephs provides corporate restructuring advice to the firm's clients. She also has been involved in numerous mediations and appellate work, including representing a major New York City developer/landlord in appeals in New York state court.
From 1984-1997, Ms. Josephs practiced at Friedman, Wang & Bleiberg, P.C., a highly-regarded litigation boutique in New York City. At Friedman, Wang, Ms. Josephs represented their clients (mostly Fortune 500 companies) in litigation involving ERISA and MEPPAA, derivative trades, bankruptcy claims, corporate asset sales and franchisee relationships. From 1982 to 1984, Ms. Josephs was an associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, where she worked primarily on complicated corporate transactions including leveraged leases and convertible debt offerings.
Immediately before joining Boies, Schiller & Flexner, Ms. Josephs was on break from legal practice to focus on raising her children. During that time, she became involved in issues of special education rights and from 1998 to 2003 served on the Special Education Services Committee for the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut. She chaired her Harvard Law School landmark reunions in 2006 and 2001.
