Ms. Dearborn has represented a diverse array of clients in litigation arising out of intellectual property, antitrust, contract, and securities disputes. She has been a key member of two jury trial teams and another before an advisory jury. As part of her intellectual-property practice, she has represented clients in matters involving smartphones, software copyrights and patents, medical devices, and intellectual-property damages. Ms. Dearborn has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
Ms. Dearborn’s recent experience includes:
- Serving as a key member of the core trial team in in a high-profile federal antitrust case in the portable music industry in federal court in 2014, winning a defense verdict from the jury in a class action seeking $350M in damages before trebling.
- Serving as a key member of the core trial team representing Theranos in an inventorship dispute in 2014 in the Northern District of California, resulting in a mid-trial settlement successfully invalidating the patent-in-suit.
- Representing Oracle in multiple matters relating to its intellectual property and contracts, including Oracle v. Google, a major patent and copyright trial in the Northern District of California in 2012.
- The successful defense in the Ninth Circuit of the trial court’s ruling in favor of the plaintiffs in Perry v. Brown (now Perry v. Schwarzenegger), upholding the trial court’s opinion that established a constitutional right to marry for gay and lesbian citizens of California.
Ms. Dearborn joined the firm following the completion of her federal clerkship.
While at U.C. Berkeley School of Law, Ms. Dearborn served as an extern at the United States Department of Justice Antitrust Division in San Francisco, the Legal Aid Society -- Employment Law Center, and Public Justice. She held a senior position on the Editorial Board of the California Law Review and received the Thelen, Marrin Prize for Law Journal Writing in 2009.
