Mr. Liu's main practice area is complex civil litigation.

Before joining Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, Mr. Liu was an associate in the New York office of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP.  Since joining Boies, Schiller & Flexner, Mr. Liu has been involved in some of the firm's most significant matters, including its recent representation of Starr International Company, headed by Maurice R. "Hank" Greenberg, in a four-year federal lawsuit brought by AIG seeking control of Starr's Board of Directors and billions of dollars of Starr's assets.  Starr won summary judgment on most of AIG's claims in 2008, and won a unanimous jury verdict on AIG's remaining claims after a 16-day trial in June and July 2009.  Mr. Liu also represented Starr and Mr. Greenberg in securities fraud cases against AIG in both the Southern District of New York and in Panama.

Currently, Mr. Liu represents The Bank of New York in litigation against a putative ERISA class action and successfully moved to dismiss the case pursuant to Federal Rule 12(b)(6).  Mr. Liu also represents a group of first lien lenders in an appeal of the bankruptcy court's judgment to the Southern District of Florida.

Mr. Liu served as law clerk for Judge Joseph Irenas in the District of New Jersey after graduating from Harvard Law School.  Prior to law school, Mr. Liu worked as a Software Engineer for IBM.
