Juan P. Valdivieso's main practice areas are general litigation, intellectual property, antitrust, and securities. 

Most recently, Mr. Valdivieso has been representing financial services clients in federal litigation, government investigations, and international arbitration.  He is also managing a pro bono project representing unaccompanied migrant children in removal proceedings and representing a young woman seeking asylum from El Salvador.

Between January 2013 and July 2013, Mr. Valdivieso was on secondment at Barclays in London, where he worked primarily on internal investigations. 

From July 2011 to July 2012, Mr. Valdivieso served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Lucy H. Koh on the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.  He then returned to the firm’s New York City office as an Associate.

Between 2010 and 2011, Mr. Valdivieso was an Associate in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, where he advised and represented clients in the consumer products, airline, sports, and telecommunications industries in various litigation and regulatory matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Valdivieso served as a Counsel on the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary, where he advised the Chairman, Senator Patrick J. Leahy, on civil rights and immigration issues, as well as on the confirmation hearings of two Associate Justices of the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Valdivieso represented Peru in swimming in the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games and represented the United States in the 2011 International Triathlon Union Amateur World Championships.  He is currently on the swim team at the New York Athletic Club.
