Meryl Governski's main practice areas are complex commercial, constitutional law and First Amendment, and antitrust litigation. Ms. Governski's recent representations include:
- Serving on the trial team that represented Oracle Corporation in a 3-week jury trial in the District of Nevada, which resulted in a $50 million verdict for software copyright infringement and state law violations.
- Defending an insurance company in connection with a fraudulently-procured life insurance policy.
- Representing First Quality, a leading manufacturer of nondiscretionary consumer products, and its affiliated companies in intellectual property and antitrust litigation against Kimberly-Clark in the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
- Representing a prominent businessperson in connection to defamatory statements made on national television.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Governski spent nearly a decade in the communications field. While attending law school in the evenings, she worked as the speechwriter for the president of a local community college. Prior to that role, she worked as a member of the public relations team at CNN. Previously, she spent nearly four years as an on-air broadcast journalist in Charleston, SC and Staunton, VA.
Ms. Governski shares in the firm's commitment to pro bono legal representation. During her first few months at the firm, she already has been working on securing disability benefits for a pro bono client.
