The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear a separation-of-powers case brought on behalf of a client by BSF Partner Scott Gant, the National Law Journal reports. The question for the high court in Patchak v. Zinke is whether Congress exceeded its powers when it enacted a statute directing any pending court case related to a certain property be "promptly dismissed," the Law Journal wrote. “The separation of powers is a bedrock principle that is critically important to the way our government is run and to the well-being of our citizens," it quoted Gant as saying. "I was gratified the court agreed with our view that the case was important enough to review.”
