Jeff brings more than 25 years of experience to his work in high-profile litigation. He has successfully litigated RICO, class action, civil rights, and a multitude of other commercial disputes in federal and state courts throughout the United States.

He joined the firm with the 2001 merger of Barrett, Gravante, Carpinello & Stern. Before entering private practice, Jeff clerked for the Hon. Con G. Cholakis of the U. S. District Court for the Northern District of New York. Jeff served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1974, and has owned businesses in the construction and agricultural industries.


Among the numerous significant litigation matters in which Jeff has played a major role over the past 20 years are:

  • Representing the whistleblower in  action against a major manufacturer of highway safety products, resulting in the largest private whistleblower judgment in history
  • Successfully obtaining the settlement of a RICO case on behalf of the minority partners against the majority partners in one of the country’s largest shopping mall groups
  • Overturning the ban of a label by the State of New York, resulting in important new commercial free speech precedent
