Renowned Trial Lawyers Join D.C. Office to Bolster Growing Practice
Boies Schiller Flexner announced today that Blair Jacobs, Christina Ondrick, and John Holley have joined the firm as partners in the Washington, D.C. office. Their addition significantly deepens the firm’s IP bench, bringing decades of patent litigation experience to BSF; their arrival comes a year after that of another patent litigation trio, partners Ryan Dykal, Jordan Bergsten, and Mark Schafer, and seven months after the addition of Enoch Liang. Ryan and Blair will serve as co-leaders of the firm’s patent litigation practice.
“Patent litigation is one of the areas we have targeted for strategic growth. There is no reason why BSF should not be amongst the best patent litigation firms in the world, and Blair, Christina, and John are a great fit as we continue to expand our IP practice,” said BSF Chairman and Managing Partner Matthew L. Schwartz. “They bring deep subject matter knowledge, significant trial experience, and exceptional advocacy skills to every matter. We anticipate that they will work well with our current patent team to develop a wide range of cases.”
“BSF is building a best-in-class patent litigation team to work alongside the many stand-out trial lawyers throughout the firm,” said patent litigation practice leader Ryan Dykal. “We look forward to continuing to take on the most important matters for our clients to protect their valuable intellectual property.”
Blair, Christina, and John have worked together for many years. The team has served as lead counsel on some of the most significant U.S. patent disputes of the past two decades, leading to recognition and accolades from clients and legal publications, such as Daily Journal’s Top Trial Verdicts, Law360’s Legal Lions, and The National Law Journal’s Trailblazer awards. They have successfully litigated and tried complex disputes in all major patent jurisdictions, including at the U.S. International Trade Commission and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. They have also managed and coordinated multijurisdictional standard essential patent disputes involving parallel actions in U.S. and foreign courts.
“I am thrilled to join BSF, a firm that doesn’t just litigate but tries and wins the largest and most complex cases for its clients,” Blair said. “We ultimately want to have the best patent litigation trial practice in the industry, and we think BSF is the perfect platform from which to do that. We look forward to working with and helping to further grow this extraordinary team and continuing to achieve transformative victories for our clients.”
Blair, Christina, and John have represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of industries and technologies, including telecommunications, consumer electronics, software companies, semiconductors, encryption, medical devices, robotics, chemical processing technologies, and life sciences. The team has represented preeminent global companies in their most important intellectual property actions and has secured or defeated, in aggregate, more than $1 billion on behalf of companies such as Fairchild Semiconductors, McKesson, AT&T, Ciena Corporation, Seagate Technology, Align Technology, and Panasonic, among others.
