Boies Schiller Flexner Chairman Matthew Schwartz spoke with Law.com about maintaining a busy trial practice while serving as chairman, the fact that he has three trials scheduled for the remainder of the year, and the ways that our people define our culture.
Matthew noted that being a trial lawyer is central to the BSF identity and described the firm as “a place where people enjoy the practice. They enjoy each other. We are friends. We are a bunch of trial nerds, and we sit around the lunchroom and pick each other's brains about an issue of the rules of evidence that has come up, and some hearing that we're doing.”
As for what’s next, Matthew said: “Growth, while maintaining our identity, is a critical measure of success. I think recruiting and bringing people into the firm is amongst the most important things that we do, because, after all, a law firm is nothing more than the sum of its people and its clients.”
