Boies Schiller Flexner partner Dan Boyle is quoted in a Law.com article regarding the recent hacking of the federal judiciary’s electronic case management system, known as CM/ECF. The breach has resulted in U.S. courthouses nationwide requiring parties to file sealed documents in person or via U.S. mail in criminal matters.
“There is certainly a heightened level of concern when parties think they can’t rely on the government to keep sealed information secret,” Boyle said. Noting that this is not a practical long-term solution, Dan said, “This is not a highly technical system. Maybe it is time for them to upgrade a little bit more.”
