Dr. Christian Mammen is a leading intellectual property lawyer who has nearly three decades representing Silicon Valley, national and global companies in patent, intellectual property and technology litigation and strategy. He has led trial teams in courts across the U.S. and served as lead counsel in appeals before the Ninth and Federal Circuits.
Chris’s practice focuses on high-stakes patent disputes, strategic IP counseling, and the emerging legal and ethical questions raised by artificial intelligence. He has deep experience in patent litigation, particularly in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices, and is known as a skilled negotiator, strategist, and communicator on behalf of his clients.
In addition to his litigation practice, Chris writes and speaks on the ethical implications of AI, examining how AI-generated “digital replicas” are transforming the entertainment industry and how deepfakes and voice cloning create broader security risks as the technology continues to reshape both the practice of law and the industries his clients operate in.
Chris serves on the advisory boards for the annual Berkeley-Stanford Advanced Patent Law Institute and for the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology. He has held visiting faculty positions at Berkeley Law School, Oxford University, Stanford Law School, and UC Hastings School of Law.
