Kelly is a versatile litigator who represents individuals and companies in complex civil litigation across a broad range of practice areas, including constitutional law, commercial disputes, trade secrets, non-profit law, insurance law, defamation, and corporate derivative litigation. She handles matters for both plaintiffs and defendants, litigating in state court, federal court, and arbitration.
Kelly advises clients at all stages of litigation, from pre-complaint fact gathering through pleadings, motion practice, discovery, summary judgment, trial, and appeals, including U.S. Supreme Court submissions. She also maintains a robust pro bono practice, advocating for tenants facing unlawful eviction and for survivors of sexual abuse.
Prior to joining the firm, Kelly completed three clerkships, including positions with Chief Judge Swain at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the North Carolina Supreme Court, and the North Carolina Court of Appeals. She also has prior experience at North Carolina Legal Aid and the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division.
