Overview

Boies Schiller Flexner attorneys have in-depth knowledge of the business and legal issues that aerospace and satellite companies face, having represented clients in this area on high-stakes matters. We offer innovative and efficient solutions through dispute resolution, regardless of the forum or jurisdiction. Our attorneys are deeply experienced at navigating multijurisdictional issues that are increasingly common for these companies, leveraging cross-office teams throughout the United States and in Europe.

The increase in private commercial space exploration has initiated another space revolution – and a new set of legal issues, many of which have yet to be answered. BSF lawyers have a history of making law, and many of our lawyers have the technical backgrounds necessary to lend valuable insight to the evolving challenges our aerospace and satellite clients face. These challenges include investment protection of aerospace and satellite assets; satellite launching, maintenance, and operation; the use of satellite capacity and spectrum allocation; orbital debris and space sustainability; and space mining, among others.

We have represented major aerospace companies, including market-leaders within the private space industry at the forefront of innovation. For example, we advised SpaceX in a multibillion-dollar bid protest relating to the U.S. Air Force’s most important satellite launches, resulting in a favorable settlement providing for more competitive bids. We have represented numerous aerospace clients in significant litigation over many years, including matters on behalf of Delta, The Boeing Company, and Northwest Airlines on issues ranging from antitrust class actions to competitor litigation and contract disputes in multiple jurisdictions. We also have represented lenders to the aerospace satellite industries in some of the most important disputes.

Our lawyers also have extensive experience representing clients in judicial proceedings before courts throughout the country, as well as arbitration proceedings under all major arbitral rules and institutions such as ICSID, LCIA, ICC, SIAC, and ICDR. In doing so, we create bespoke strategies for our clients aimed at resolving their most complex and high-value disputes.
