Following an eight-day trial, a jury found in favor of our pro bono clients in a labor trafficking case in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan.
Working in partnership with Migrant Legal Aid, the Boies Schiller Flexner trial team presented evidence of mistreatment of our clients, five Guatemalan farmworkers who came to the U.S. under H-2A visas, at the hands of the labor broker who brought them here. After deliberating less than a day, the jury awarded $555,000 in damages, including $450,000 in punitive damages under the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act.
