Sigrid S. McCawley

Sigrid is a Managing Partner of Boies Schiller Flexner and has over 20 years of experience litigating some of the most sophisticated commercial litigation disputes in the country and abroad. Her advocacy for clients in high-stakes cases has received significant acclaim, with a client telling Chambers USA that “Sigrid is a rock star. Sigrid’s sophisticated commercial litigation practice is broad and high-impact. Most notably, Sigrid has been a leading advocate for victims of sex predator Jeffrey Epstein and his co-conspirators. Her pro bono work contributed to the arrests of Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Jean-Luc Brunel. Sigrid has helped bring groundbreaking litigation against major financial institutions on behalf of Epstein survivors resulting in nearly half a billion dollars of financial justice. Sigrid recently drafted and introduced trailblazing legislation in Congress, “Virginia’s Law” named after her client Virginia Giuffre with the goal of eviscerating the statute of limitations under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act. She also represents, pro bono, a group of ballerinas seeking to hold their abusers accountable on sex-trafficking charges. In her commercial work, Sigrid has secured significant victories for clients in complex disputes, from winning a multimillion-dollar international arbitration to helping achieve a $100 million victory in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court matter Halliburton Co. v. Erica P. John Fund, which reached the Supreme Court twice. She has been actively involved in the representation of Blake Lively and her publicist in the dispute surrounding conduct on the set of “It Ends with Us.”

Sigrid’s significant representations include:

• Successfully obtained a combined $365 million dollar settlement from two major financial institutions in a class action on behalf of Epstein victims
• Obtained a $150 million dollar settlement for a class in a pyramid scheme case against Amway Corporation
• Successfully obtained a $100 million dollar settlement in a securities case that was heard by the U.S. Supreme Court on two separate occasions
• Successfully obtained a significant contractual win in an international arbitration involving a contractual dispute
• Sucessfully litigated and resolved multiple actions across the nation relating to the theft of an insurance company’s trade secrets
• Defended Fortune 500 company in nationwide class action and related action resulting in a favorable ruling before the Colorado Supreme Court
• Served as lead counsel in trust action and related cases pending in both state and federal courts involving challenges exceeding $2 billion
• Successfully defeated intellectual property challenge that went to the heart of a national call distribution company’s business model
• Recovered millions of dollars for employees in various employment actions, including a successful appellate argument before the California Court of Appeal
• Successfully challenged the constitutionality of provisions in developer owned project resulting in positive result for condominium associations and continues to represent condominium association clients
