Boies Schiller Flexner associates Joshua Quaye and Michael Huerta were panelists on a CLE webinar titled, “The Supreme Court and Trans Sports,” sponsored by the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law.

Panelists discussed the January 13 oral arguments in West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox. Michael and Joshua were part of the team that filed an amicus brief in West Virginia on behalf of Professor Andrew Flores, in partnership with the Williams Institute. The brief focused on “political powerlessness” in Equal Protection doctrine, presenting empirical evidence that the transgender community satisfies the indicia of political powerlessness supporting heightened scrutiny. At oral argument, Hon. Sonia Sotomayor cited data presented by Professor Flores in the amicus.
