Boies Schiller Flexner is committed to diversity and inclusion at the firm, in the legal profession and in society as a whole.
Our firm is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment that supports the recruitment, retention and advancement of women and men of all backgrounds, at all levels of the firm. We believe that teams with diverse viewpoints and perspectives is critical to providing creative solutions to the unique needs of our global client base.
The firm’s Diversity Committee provides guidance and recommendations on policies, procedures and professional development opportunities to meet the firm’s objectives with regard to diversity and inclusion. We recognize that promoting diversity requires proactive commitment and focus. The firm has several affinity groups that provide an additional support network and resource for our attorneys. The affinity groups provide additional professional development and mentoring opportunities for the members. The firm regularly supports internal and external professional and social events that can foster professional relationships and friendships.
- African-American Affinity Group
- Asian American & Pacific Islander Affinity Group

- LGBT & Allies Affinity Group
- Women Affinity Group
Our firm was also founded on the principle that great lawyering includes acting for the public interest. In our over 20-year history, we have regularly tackled important social issues and fought for marginalized groups, including the successful representation of plaintiffs which invalidated California Proposition 8 banning same-sex marriage.
As an example of our continued commitment, in 2019 the firm signed on to the Mansfield Rule 3.0 certification process. Inspired by the NFL’s Rooney Rule, the Mansfield Rule measures whether law firms have affirmatively considered at least 30 percent women, lawyers of color, lawyers with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ lawyers (“historically underrepresented lawyers”) for significant leadership roles and activities in the firm.
